IV Band Quarter Auction

Indian Valley High School, Gnadenhutten, Ohio

Description

I planned and organized a quarter auction for our high school marching band. I lined up outside vendors, outside donations for the quarter auction & had the band kids donate items for a concession stand. I made pre-sale tickets for band members & their parents to sell. I did this so we could raise money for instruments. Our band is growing which is an awesome thing!! We don’t have enough instruments for all of the kids in our band.

Target Audience

Anyone & everyone is welcomed to the quarter auction. There was a few items that only 18 & older could bid on. Other than that, everyone could bid on all of the items we had.

Overview of Planning and Execution

I had to find a location for the quarter auction. Then I had to find a date that would work for everyone. Planning took a couple of months. You have to get paddles & chips, if you don’t have any. You have to decide on how much change you’re going to need for the quarter auction & concession stand. You have to make a list of donors, vendors & items for the concession stand.

Costs

Rented 2 buildings for the quarter auction. Everything else was donated.

Challenges/Obstacles

We ran out of chairs an hour before the quarter auction started. My husband & some band kids went to get picnic tables to use. We ran out of numbered paddles 45 minutes before the quarter auction started. We got some dessert plates & wrote numbers on them.

Success/Effectiveness Measurement

It was truly successful!! I didn’t expect the number of people to show up that did. We made far more than I expected us to. Everyone had a good time.

Advice for others?

Get more chairs & paddles!!
