Music Department Media Relations Materials
Longwood Central School District, Middle Island, New York
Description
A fifteen (15)-page document detailing the music and art program, and specific information on Longwood High School’s non-competitive marching band.
Included is an oval-shaped car magnet stating “We Proudly Support THE ARTS in Longwood” with imprinted graphics for visual art, music and theater.
We felt the graphics would bring attention to the Arts in general and state in which district the car owner lives.
Physical copy will be mailed.
Target Audience
This file is available to the media and organizations wishing to involve our students in public performances, and to provide them with recognition for their musicianship.
Costs
Start-up costs were in the form of a personal donation to get the magnets made. They were donated to our Tri-M music honor society for fundraising efforts. Students re-invested their profit to create more magnets.
Success/Effectiveness Measurement
This document is updated as our ensembles expand their performance opportunities, and as our student ensembles – and our department as a whole – receive awards and recognitions.
Advice for others?
As the recognized expert for a district’s music program, an arts administrator, lead teacher or band director should have statistical and/or factual information on the school district’s music program ready to be distributed to local media outlets, civic organizations, or the like.
