Prosper Recruitment Video

Prosper High School, Prosper, Texas

Description

This was a student-created project that was intended to alleviate any worries or hesitations that an incoming middle school student may have when considering whether or not to continue band in high school. Our leadership team included clips of the marching band both in competitive performance as well as in the stands in addition to interviews with current high school band students.

Target Audience

Our middle school feeder programs.

Challenges/Obstacles

The kids we selected for the project are very driven, so we had little to no involvement in the process. We had them create a rough draft and we gave them a few edits to make, but otherwise it was a very smooth process.

Success/Effectiveness Measurement

Over the last four years, we have seen the total band program grow from 180 students to 360. The rate of growth has been exponential from year to year, with our largest increase happening this last year.

Advice for others?

Having current students provide their own insight goes a lot further than having a band director speak about the program. The kids trust each other.
