Youth Orchestras of Lubbock, Lubbock, Texas
Description
This video was used in area schools and sent to students who signed up via the online form expressing interest in the program. It was also provided through our website, www.youthorchestrasoflubbock.org for donors, sponsors, and grantors to view and learn about the program. It was delivered via email, and also referenced on posters, brochures, and information packages mailed out to area band directors and school orchestra programs.
Target Audience
We wanted this video to give a clear picture of what our program is, therefore, it is targeted to any audience which wants to learn about the youth orchestra program

Success/Effectiveness Measurement
We saw an increase in our student recruitment from regional towns compared to the previous year, having one student actually drive from NEW MEXICO to participate in the orchestra program. We live in one of the poorest regions of the State of Texas, and in fact, the per-capita income in this area is
The 24/7 Wall Street news site reported in June of 2017 Lubbock was one of the poorest cities in the US, with a Poverty rate of 22.4% well above the 15.9% statewide poverty rate and 14.7% nationwide poverty rate. The typical household in Lubbock, Texas earns only $45,551 a year, about $10,000 less than the median income across the state.
We adapted our program to help meet the needs of our population, creating an emergency needs-based aid program. We examined the application rate, and consider the increased rate of applications for needs-based aid for the program a successful marker of reaching people with the message that YOL does not turn a student away who can perform the music for inability to pay.

We found a wonderful video producer who was willing to go the extra mile and help us create this wonderful video. Build bridges within your local community and it will help you make an affordable video to reach more students and people in your community.
